Creative Applications in Color and Variable Information
The Xerox Research Center Webster is seeking skilled and talented people in the area of using, creating, and innovating with color design applications and services. Applicants for this position must have extensive experience using a suite of standard design application such as Adobe CS3 and the use of variable information systems such as XMPie and VIPP. Familiarity with the concepts and use of data bases for the management of variable information is required. The applicant should be able to add features to the suite of design tools through plug-ins and demonstrate the use of new concepts. Knowledge of printing workflows, both from traditional graphics arts and offset, as well as digital printing is expected. The applicant will work with an extended research staff to create and demonstrate prototype applications, gather feedback, and iterate improvements to the ideas and concepts. The applicant is expected to assist on multiple projects, with a wide range of demands. A working style and personality that enables agility and the ability to adapt, while maintaining organization of tasks is expected.
Responsibilities
•Development and integration of new and existing technologies to support new product concepts such as packaging, and personalized structural elements, specialty imaging/printing features (e.g. gloss, foils, embossing), and color workflow tools.•Work along side research staff in demonstration of prototype applications, gather feedback, and iterate improvements.•Analyze various business processes and assist with the investigation of possible modifications that will lead greater adoption of new digital solutions.



Requirements:

RequirementsMS CS/EE, computer science, information systems, printing, design
•Experience/proficiency in software computer languages (C++, C#, Java) required
•Experience in one or more common print data formats (e.g. Postscript, PDF) required.
•Experience in variable information distribution/printing strongly desired
•Knowledge of how to integrate into the Adobe Creative Suite technologies such as variable information, vector graphics, and plug-ins
•Experience in variable information distribution/printing
•Working knowledge of the use of data bases constructs is desired
•Experience in document management systems design and deployment
•Ability to identify key applications, integrated solutions, analyze existing document workflow, and suggest solutions to enhance profitability and productivity
•Knowledge of graphic arts/commercial printing industry standards and trends, color markets, product positioning and production color competition
