TheXerox Innovation Groupis seeking highly qualified professionals with strong technical background and research experience to immediately fill senior positions as Senior Scientists/Research Managers at our new India Innovation Hub, based inChennai,India.
Background:Established in January 2009, the India Innovation Hub is Xerox's fifth research location world-wide. With a charter centered on research and innovation in solutions and services, theIndiahub will explore, develop and incubate cutting edge technologies that advance Xerox's position as the leading global provider of document solutions and services. Researchers at the hub will have the opportunity to work on latest technologies and paradigms including cloud and mobile computing, human computation and computational economics while leveraging Xerox's strong established expertise in imaging, smart document management, linguistics and ethnography to address both locally relevant as well as globally challenging problems. Open Innovation is at the core of how research will be conducted at the hub which aims to bring together top scientists and engineers from across Xerox with leading academic institutions, research labs, and industry partners in India.Areas of interest include:. Distributed Systems. Grid/Cloud Computing Platforms & Applications. Mobile Platforms & Applications. Services Sciences & Engineering. Web Services Design. Machine Learning. Multi-lingual Technologies & Linguistics. Web 2.0, Social Networks & Computing. Computational Economics. Human Computation/Crowd Sourcing. Ethnography. Operations Research/OptimizationProfile:The selected candidate will manage the technical activities of the technical area he/she leads, work extensively with Open Innovation partners, and guide a team of highly skilled and motivated researchers, while continuing to be an individual research contributor. He/She will work closely with the director of the Hub in developing and implementing the research strategy for the hub in line with the high level strategies of the corporation and interface closely with researchers and program managers across Xerox global research labs. The candidate will drive and ensure intellectual property generation including patent disclosures, technical papers and scientific advancements. The candidate will provide first line management support and handle all human resource activities for his/her technical area including hiring and Balanced Work Force (BWF) objectives, performance evaluation, training, skill development, and salary management.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate for the senior scientist/research manager position will have:. A PhD degree in Computer Science, engineering or relateddisciplines, from a leading academic institution. Sound technical expertise in one or more of the followingareas: distributed systems, web based systems, grid/cloudcomputing, mobile systems and applications, web servicesdelivery, services sciences and engineering, knowledgeengineering and technologies for emerging markets. Strong track record of publications and patents and soundstanding in the academic community. Close to 10 years of experience in a recognized researchorganization or academic institution leading research andtechnology development activities. Proven people management skills. Sound project management and communication skills. High energy, passion and aptitude to guide strategic researchinitiatives from inception to maturity.
